The Spinifex is an underexplored tenure within a regional area characterised by lithium exploration success. Golden Dragon is targeting lithium prospectivity within the project area; as such, there is no recorded lithium analysis undertaken within the project area.
Exploration in the Spinifex project area has focused primarily on nickel and gold, with very minor attention on the identification and economic potential of pegmatites. Additionally, there has been very limited lithium analysis undertaken within the project area.
The Spinifex project is located within 5km of the Dynamic Metals Lake Percy lithium project, who have reported a lithium anomaly greater than 100ppm Li2O over an area of 2.5km by 2km (Dynamic Metals, 2024). Spodumene bearing pegmatites have been identified 20km south at Mt Day prospect and more recent lithium discoveries at Medcalf (ASX: CHR) and Burmeister (ASX:TG6).

With the growing interest in battery metals, there has been a surge of renewed exploration in the area. While the Spinifex area is distal to the pegmatites identified by other explorers, the lack of systematic field work in the area and the fertile geology highlights the potential for lithium mineralisation within the project.
Golden Dragon intends to follow up on prospective pegmatites identified by recent explorers and determine if any of these prospective LCT pegmatites extend into Golden Dragons tenure. Exploration will consist of a tenement scale mapping and multi-element fine fraction soil survey concentrating over the identified target areas. The intention is to vector in on lithium bearing pegmatites that may be hidden under residual cover.
